Frequently Asked Questions
What types of services do you offer?
At ClariZen Counseling, we offer Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, and Coaching (for individuals and small groups).
Our sessions are designed to help you find clarity and peace—whether you’re working through anxiety, life transitions, or personal growth. All services are offered virtually for your comfort and convenience.
What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy focuses on emotional healing, self-awareness, and addressing patterns or experiences that may be holding you back.
Coaching, on the other hand, is more action-oriented and goal-focused—ideal for those looking to build skills, improve habits, or move forward in a specific area of life.
If you’re unsure which is best for you, we can explore that together during your consultation.
Who do you work with?
LaKeisha Barnes specializes in working with adolescents, teens, young adults, and families from diverse backgrounds. Each session is tailored to your individual needs, honoring your experiences and identity.
How does virtual therapy work?
All sessions are held online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. You can connect from a space that feels comfortable and private to you—whether that’s your home, office, or car between errands. It’s flexible, convenient, and just as effective as in-person sessions.
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is a calm, open conversation where we’ll get to know one another. You’ll share what brings you to counseling and what you hope to gain. Together, we’ll discuss goals and create a plan that feels supportive, realistic, and at your own pace.
How long does therapy take?
There’s no set timeline—each person’s journey is unique. Some clients find clarity in a few months, while others prefer ongoing support. You’re always in control of how long you’d like to continue sessions.
What topics can we work on together?
Common areas include anxiety, self-esteem, boundaries, grief, identity, relationships, and life transitions. Coaching clients often focus on stress management, confidence, communication skills, and goal setting.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. We currently accept Medicaid, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. We also offer self-pay options and may provide a sliding scale for qualifying clients.
What if I’m not sure where to start?
That’s completely okay—and very common. We’ll begin with a simple conversation to help you explore your goals, comfort level, and what kind of support would serve you best. Reaching out is the first and most important step toward growth.
Is everything I share confidential?
Absolutely. Your privacy is a top priority. Everything shared in sessions is confidential, except in rare cases where safety or legal obligations require disclosure (we’ll review this in detail during your first session).
How often will we meet?
At ClariZen Counseling, therapy is more than a process—it’s a partnership.
LaKeisha combines clinical expertise with genuine care, helping clients feel seen, heard, and supported. Here, healing feels like home—for every story and every journey.
